Russian forces are training for chemical warfare amid high tension over a feared invasion of Ukraine.

A “peacekeepers’” brigade in a drill operating in terrain “contaminated with chemical warfare agents” has been seen in new footage.

The drill in the Southern Military District, which includes annexed Crimea, involved 500 troops.

Russia is also readying bunker-busting Iskander-M missile complexes which underwent a “combat readiness check” in the Western Military District, which borders Ukraine, separate footage which did not disclose the precise location shows.

The nuclear-capable Iskander, which is named Stone in NATO reports, is a mobile short-range ballistic missile with multiple warheads.

This includes cluster munitions warheads, fuel-air explosive enhanced-blast warheads, high explosive-fragmentation warheads, and earth-penetrating warheads for bunker-busting.

“The main purpose of the manoeuvres is to test the training and coherence of the actions of military personnel,” said a report citing military sources.

The combat drills included “camouflaging the tactical missile systems and repelling saboteur attacks”.

New footage apparently showed tanks, with their numbers "painted over", being transported "towards Ukraine".

The video is called: "Russia sends tanks to Ukraine - War 2022."

The non-stop transport of Russian forces thousands of miles across Siberia to Belarus is being stepped up.
