Armenia committed 38 terrorist attacks against Azerbaijanis in 1988-1994, Ilgar Safarov, Senior Assistant to the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan, said on Thursday.


He made the remarks while speaking at a joint press conference of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Foreign Ministry on crimes committed by Armenian armed forces and illegal armed groups of Armenia against Azerbaijan from 1988 till now.

Safarov said that the terrorist attacks committed by Armenia against Azerbaijanis in 1988-1994 killed 1,105 people and left 1,180 others injured.

He recalled that on November 20, 1991, Armenian armed forces shot down a Mi-8 military helicopter over Garakand village, Azerbaijan’s Khojavand district, killing a total of 22 people, including Azerbaijani Secretary of State Tofig Ismayilov, Prosecutor General Ismat Gayibov, Interior Minister Mahammad Asadov, MPs Vagif Jafarov and Vali Mammadov.
