The 10th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Turkey high-level military dialogue started on 5 December in Baku, reports Defence.az citing Azerbaijan Ministry of Defence press service.
The delegation met for a plenary meeting in an extended format, where the co-chairs from both parties delivered welcome speeches. They also presented briefings about the state of regional security. The meeting was continued with work group panels.
The meeting will last until 7 December, where the parties will discuss the current state and the prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey in military, military-technical, military-medical, military-educational, military-industrial and other fields, as well as issues of strengthening friendship relations between the Armed Forces of the two countries and the main directions for resolving forthcoming issues. The delegation will analyse the measures taken this year and agree upon the action plan for 2018.
Note that the co-chairman of the meeting from the Azerbaijani side is Lieutenant General Kerim Veliyev, the Deputy Minister of Defence for Personnel, and from the Turkish side – Lieutenant General Yavuz Turkgenci, Director of Plans and Policy Directorate, Turkish General Staff.
We would like to note that at first the participants of the meeting visited the Alley of Honours, commemorated the memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and laid a wreath on his grave. They also laid a wreath to commemorate the eminent scientists and ophthalmologist, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
The delegation also visited the Alley of Martyrs and commemorated the heroic sons of our country, who sacrificed their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and laid a wreath before the “Eternal Flame” monument. They later laid a wreath before the monument dedicated to the Turkish soldiers deceased in 1918.
