Nowadays, Azerbaijan has renewed more than 80 percent of its army’s weapons and military equipment and supplied it with modern weapons, Chief of the Defence Ministry’s Department of Moral-Psychological Preparedness and Public Relations, Major General Rasim Aliyev said at a roundtable held on the subject “The stage of Ilham Aliyev in Azerbaijan’s army-building”, Defence.az reported.
Aliyev said that the author of modern Azerbaijani army is national leader Heydar Aliyev. “The military lyceum named after Jamshid Nakhchivanski created by the national leader in the 1970s has played a great role in the development of our army,” he said.
“The contribution made by Heydar Aliyev to independent Azerbaijan’s army-building is not limited only to the military lyceum. After Azerbaijan restored its independence, the national leader who was brought to power in 1993 upon the people’s demand, took significant measures in the army building. Continuing Heydar Aliyev’s policy successfully in all fields, President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev also made a great contribution to the development of the army building. Today, Azerbaijan has renewed more than 80 percent of its army’s weapons and military equipment and supplied it with modern weapons. Most of military settlements were reconstructed and overhauled. One of the great merits of our president is that today the moral and psychological state of the Azerbaijani army’s personnel is at the highest level. The personnel of the Azerbaijani army is waiting for the instruction of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief to liberate our lands from the enemy,” stressed the Major General.
