Thousands of women battle against ISIS in Rojava region of Syria.
The Women’s Defence Unit (shortened as YPJ from its Kurdish title) is an organization of female warriors who are fighting against ISIS and affiliated with the People’s Protection Units YPG – the military branch of Democratic Unity Party PYD operating in Rojava region in the north of Syria.
Over 10 thousands of female warriors are estimated to be in YPJ in Rojava region.
