The Trump administration has once again asked the Taliban to abandon terror and respect Afghanistan’s constitution.

Pentagon chief spokesperson Dana W. White said: “The Taliban has to abandon violence and it has to support the Afghan constitution.”

Addressing a news conference in Washington on Sunday, she said the US continued to consult India on its role in Afghanistan and on issues going beyond South Asia.

She told Islamabad the war on terrorism in the South Asian region had reached an inflection point and Pakistan should use the opportunity to vanquish terrorists. “We believe Pakistan can do more to combat terrorism,” White said. “This is an inflection point and Pakistan has an opportunity to do more.”
