Turkish Troops Claim More Victories in Afrin to Tighten Noose on Kurdish Militias

The Turkish Army troops and Ankara-backed militants have gained control over 70 percent of Afrin region, sources affiliated to the Ankara-backed militants claimed, adding that the Kurdish militias trapped in the town of Afrin in Northwestern Aleppo are going under a complete siege.


The sources said that the Turkish soldiers and allied militants stormed the Kurds within the framework of Operation Olive Branch in Bolbol region and captured the villages of al-Mohebiyeh Jolaqi and Qorzali.

Also, the Ankara forces occupied the villages of Berkeh, Jomazanli, Hamou Rajou and Jarou in Sheikh Hadid region in Northern Afrin, the sources went on to day.

They further said that the Turkish army needs only to capture the two Kurdish-held villages of Ein Darah and al-Basetouleh South of the town of Afrin before they lay a complete siege on the town.

Ther sources said that some 70 percent of Afrin region is now under the Turkish forces' control.

Tens of civilians have been killed and wounded in the Turkish army offensives against Afrin in Aleppo province of Syria.

Local sources in Afrin reported on Thursday that the Turkish army and its affiliated militants targeted several vehicles carrying civilians on the road to the village of Ba'adina in Ma'abatli in Afrin, killing at least 9 civilians and injuring several others.

Reports also said that the Turkish army airstrikes and artillery attacks against Afrin killed 7 civilians, including children, and wounded 25 others.
