The US plans to seek additional $7.5 bn for defense budget to push back on China in the Asian Pacific region, reports TASS.

According to US Senator Cory Gardner the US is going to reinforce the military contacts with Taiwan and increase the defense budget in the Pacific region to push back the growing influence of China.

A group of senators has promoted an initiative for security provision in Asia developed on the sample of the initiative for European security provision approved by the US congress under Barak Obama's administration as a response measure to annexation of Crimea to Russia and the armed conflict in the East of Ukraine.

The US State and Defense Departments would jointly spend the funds over five years, setting the total cost of the initiative at $7.5 billion.
