Nazarbayev pays special attention to cooperation with India in space, pharmaceutical and military-technical areas

Within the framework of the SCO summit in Qingdao Kazakhstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the president’s press service reported.


The head of the state noted, as a result of the agreements reached, the trade turnover between two states have grown 53% last year alone reaching $1 billion. Currently, the two countries are actively developing cooperation in the space field, pharmaceuticals, military-technical sector, as well as other areas. 
The head of the state also pointed to the progressive character of the relations between the two countries and congratulated the Prime Minister of India on his country’s full membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. N.Nazarbayev emphasized, from the very beginning Kazakhstan fully supported India’s initiative to join the SCO.
In turn, the Prime Minister of India thanked N. Nazarbayev for supporting the election of the representative of India to the UN International Court of Justice and noted the successful developing and strengthening of the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries. He also congratulated the Kazakhstani president on the 20th anniversary of the founding of the capital of Kazakhstan. 
N.Modi stressed, Kazakhstan is one of India’s largest trade partners in Central Asia, and expressed interest in implementing projects within the framework of the “Digital Kazakhstan” program. The Prime Minister of India also invited Kazakhstan to join the International Solar Alliance (ISA).
