Vice President of the OSCE PA, MP Azay Guliyev has raised the issue of frozen conflicts, including the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the issue of non-effectiveness of the OSCE Minsk Group in its settlement at a plenary meeting of the 27th Annual Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly which was held at the Reichstag Building (seat of the German Bundestag).

The MP stressed the necessity of OSCE’s unconditional support of the territorial integrity of the member states noting that the occupation of the territory of one state by another is absolutely unacceptable, Defence.az reported citing AzerTAC.

Guliyev emphasized that application of double standards in this respect is inadmissible. He considered it necessary to convene the Minsk conference mentioning that the conflict could be resolved sooner than the Minsk Group attempted.

In response to the Azerbaijani representative’s question, Deputy Foreign Minister of Italy Guglielmo Picchi who is responsible for the OSCE Chairmanship said that Italy, as a Chair of OSCE, stands ready to launch all the possibilities and mechanisms to achieve progress in resolving the protracted conflicts. He noted that the proposal of the Azerbaijani representative to convene the Minsk conference to achieve progress in the negotiation process was also taken into consideration.
