Sergiy Hayduk, the former commander of the Naval forces and the vice-admiral, suggested setting a mine barrier in the Sea of Azov to secure Ukraine against Russia’s possible attack. He said it on air of Hromadske radio, as 112.ua reported.

Hayduk told what Ukraine should do not to de facto block itself.

“This issue can be solved quite simply. There is such a notion – military controlled channel – all these mine areas and the engineering barriers are mapped, the construction of the vessels’ convoy is implemented through these military controlled channels, - this is one of the ways of maneuver restriction and solution of this issue,” he said.

Earlier, Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine, during one of his speeches said that he did not exclude the fact that Russia is preparing an attack at Mariupol. Besides, as of July 15, Russian had detained 148 vessels in the Sea of Azov for inspection.

Due to this, Poroshenko entrusted the Defence Minister, the Head of the General Staff and Ukraine’s Navy command to take relevant measures to stop the Russian provocations concerning the blockage of the vessels entering to the Ukrainian ports in the Sea of Azov.
