The Armenian government continues its attempts to change the format of negotiations on the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

“Such attempts are unacceptable, which are also stated by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and international organizations. Such attempts are aimed at blocking the negotiation process,” the head of state said at the opening ceremony of the 7th Global Baku Forum on Thursday, AzVision.az reports.

The president noted that more than one million refugees and internally displaced persons have been suffering from the Armenian occupation. “Our people were subjected to ethnic cleansing, and historical monuments in the occupied territories were destroyed,” he said.

The head of state underlined the inadmissibility of the status quo. “In order to change the status quo, Armenia must withdraw its troops from the occupied Azerbaijani territories,” he added.

Praising Azerbaijan’s effective cooperation with international organizations, the head of state stressed the importance of the “Baku Process”, initiated 10 years ago.

“This process enjoys support from the United Nations,” the head of state said.
