The Israeli military said Thursday that two rockets were fired at Tel Aviv from the Gaza Strip, with one reportedly intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome.

The two fired rockets set off sirens in Tel Aviv, with several explosions heard in the city, Reuters reported, citing the Israeli military and witnesses.

The military said it would provide further details later, the outlet reported.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry had tweeted that the country's Iron Dome Aerial Defense System intercepted a rocket heading toward Tel Aviv.

"IDF confirms that two rockets were launched from #Gaza towards Tel Aviv tonight. Video shows interception of one of the rockets over the Tel Aviv area by the Iron Dome Aerial Defence System," it wrote in a since-deleted tweet.

The IDF shared a video of air siren signals going off in Tel Aviv in response to the rocket launches.

No actor in the Gaza Strip has claimed responsibility for the rockets yet.

Tensions between Israelis and Palestinians have flared up in the last year after several Palestinian protests near Israel’s border fence drew lethal responses from the IDF.

Israeli news outlet Haaretz reported that more than 300 rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip during a series of especially violent confrontations with protests in November.
