Twenty six years ago, on April 18, 1993, Armenian militants committed another crime against humanity.

After occupation of Kalbajar district by the Armenian troops, 72 civilians, including women and children were hiding in several caves in Bashlibel village.

They remained unnoticed there for 17 days until 18 April when their place was found by Armenian militants. They could not resist, as all they had was a pair of hunting rifles and a few machine guns left from the soldiers guarding them. Armenians brutally killed 28 civilians, and took 18 hostages.

Others who managed to escape hid in the mountains for 113 days. During all this time, they were in danger  of being murdered. Having managed to escape the enemy encirclement, they were able to get to Dashkend on 22 July 1993.
