The U.S. defence budget provides $100 million for Ukraine for lethal equipment, as Ukraine’s Embassy to the U.S. reported on Facebook.

“An important decision we expected/ Active cooperation with the U.S. Congress and Pentagon, an increase of confidence to Ukraine are successful. The U.S. Senate suggests increasing allocations for Ukraine in the defence budget for 2020 up to $300 million,” the message reads.

In particular, the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services approved the draft law “On the U.S. budget for 2020 for the needs of national security”, which authorized allocations to Pentagon for Ukraine in the amount of $300 million, which is by $50 million more.

$100 million out of that sum has to be spent for lethal equipment.

The document offers to expand the U.S. assistance in the enhancement of the defence capacity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by adding the means of the coastal guard and anti-ship missiles.

The law “On the U.S. budget for 2020 for the needs of the national security” will come into force after the Senate and House of Representatives adopt it and the President of the country signs it.

As it was reported, Ukraine might get ships and lethal equipment as NATO enhances its presence in the Black Sea.
