Eldar Mammadov was an Azerbaijani military figure.

He was born in Baku on January 10t 1968. He studied at school No.189 till the 8th grade in Baku. He wanted to become a military serviceman and therefore continued his education at the school of Cadets after J. Nakhchivanski from 1982 till 1985. Then he entered High Military Political School of the Red Flag in Riga and studied there from 1985 till 1989. After completing his education, he served in the USSR Armed Forces.

The young lieutenant returned to his home country after Armenians started attacking Azerbaijani lands. He started serving in the newly established Frontier Troops. The young officer was promoted to the rand of the head lieutenant for his resourcefulness and knowledge. He was a participant of the battles in Aghdara region within the battalion of volunteers in Frontier Troops in 1993. Eldar made the enemy retreat many times during the defense of Mehmana village of Aghdara region. The brave officer made the enemy withdraw once again when protecting crucial heights near the village of Kasapet on the 24th of February, 1993. But the enemy wanted to occupy the strategical heights badly and therefore they returned back with heavier artillery and more manpower. But the lieutenant dragged the enemy's attention only at himself by destroying a lot of manpower and military equipment in order for the enemy not to focus on our main forces. In this unequal battle, the wounded officer once again proved his courage and love towards the country. Alas! It was his last battle and so the brave officer fought till the last drop of his blood in order to protect the country from the enemy invasion.

He was single.

Mammadov Eldar Harun was posthumously awarded the title of the “National Hero of Azerbaijan” by the decree # 247 of the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the 11th of December, 1994.

He was buried in the Alley of Martyrs in Baku.
