Azerbaijan: How conscripts get tested for coronavirus?

Azerbaijan will place the conscripts of July under quarantine for 14 days after testing them for coronavirus.


Depending on the testing results, the servicemen will be mobilized, informs the State Service for Mobilization and Conscription.

Every conscript is provided with protective medical equipment, and the use of disinfectants, maintenance of physical distance during medical examinations are strictly observed, said the State Service.

The agency added that the conscripts have their body temperature measured, and in case of any symptoms, they are immediately isolated.

Spokesman for the Defence Ministry Vagif Dargahli also noted that the ministry has been taking appropriate measures in the military units since March to protect against the coronavirus.

"The draftees once again undergo medical examinations in military units of the Ministry," he noted.

The Spokesman added that the meetings of the soldiers with their parents, which were suspended due to the pandemic, have not been resumed yet.

Under the presidential order dated June 11 'On conscription of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan into the active military service from July 1 to 30, 2020 and transfer on the servicemen from active military service to reserve units', the next conscription started on July 1.

Under the order, citizens born in 2002 and who have reached 18 years by the day of conscription (including that day) as well as born in 1985-2001 and who are under 35 age, who have not served active military service in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan and other armed units established according to the country's legislation, having no right of deferral of active military service or those who have not released from active military service will be conscripted into active military service from July 1 till 30, 2020.

So far, Azerbaijan has reported 19,267 coronavirus cases and 235 related deaths. A total of 10,820 patients have recovered from the disease in the country.
