The first Turkish anti-ship missile of its own production Atmaca has successfully passed a long-range flight test. This was announced by the head of the Department of Defense Industry of Turkey’s Defense Ministry Ismail Demir on Twitter.

According to him, the missile "performed its functions perfectly, hitting the target at a distance of more than 200 kilometers."

Atmaca is manufactured by the Turkish company Roketsan. It claims that Atmaca is capable of hitting targets at a distance of more than 200 kilometers - that is farther than you can see even using optical devices.

Turkey's Armed Forces should receive the first Atmaca by the end of 2020. They will replace American Harpoon anti-ship missiles.

As we reported earlier, air defense systems in Iraq have intercepted a rocket targeting the US Embassy in Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone.

"The missile that was intercepted by the American embassy in Baghdad fell near a number of protesters close to the Green Zone area. It landed close to the bridge leading to the Green Zone itself," the message reads.
