Relevant activities are being carried out in accordance with the protocol signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation on the provision of the Russian peacekeeping contingent located in the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan told Defence.az.

On November 28, military servicemen, vehicles and special equipment, as well as other logistics equipment that entered Azerbaijan from Russia by rail passed the border and customs control.

On November 10, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia signed an agreement to end six weeks of fierce fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Under the agreement, Russian peacekeepers are being deployed along the front line in Nagorno-Karabakh and the corridor between the region and Armenia.

A total of 1,960 Russian peacekeepers are to be deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh under a five-year mandate.
