Uzbekistan and Turkey sign enhanced framework military cooperation agreement

Uzbekistan and Turkey have signed enhanced framework military cooperation agreement on March 29, the Ministry of Defense of Turkey said.


The agreement was signed during visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Uzbekistan.

The agreement was signed by National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar on behalf of Turkey and Defense Minister Bahodir Kurbanov on behalf of Uzbekistan.

The details of the signed agreement were not specified. However, during the joint press conference in Tashkent, President Erdogan said Turkey and Uzbekistan signed agreements in defense industry, in which the countries have a big potential.

The Turkish President stressed during the meeting with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev the agreement was reached on development of cooperation in a broad range of spheres, from transport to energy sector, health care to education and culture.

The countries made the decision to raise bilateral relations to comprehensive strategic partnership level.
