The operation to liberate the village of Sugovushan took place in several stages and will be recorded in the history of the war for the liberation of the territories of Azerbaijan.

Pulling back one of the strongest groups of the occupying contingent of the Armenian Armed Forces as part of the so-called 6th and 7th defensive areas and additional consolidated units, the Azerbaijani Army at the first stage, by deceitful maneuvers, began to simulate a frontal breakthrough of a serious defence line, which consisted of 4-6 rows of anti-tank trenches in some areas, mixed minefields and major engineering structures, Defence.az reports.

This was the same “Ohanyan line”, which after April 2016 was brought to the maximum concentration of tank caponiers, strong points, surveillance cameras, diversion routes, ready positions for artillery and hidden ammunition depots. Newly built barracks, military unit # 33651 were located behind rocky hills, which made it impossible to get into them from artillery even along a hinged trajectory. These buildings had underneath a concrete bunker with multiple exits, a separate water supply and a power supply line with a substation. Steel shutters on the rails made it possible to instantly close the windows, and tires were laid on the top layer of concrete slab under the roof.

According to preliminary estimates, only this site from Chayli village to the village of Sugovushan and on the surrounding hills, from 35 to 50 thousand anti-personnel mines were planted, the demining of which continues to this day.

The dominant heights allowed Armenian not only to observe the course of hostilities, but also to shoot everything many kilometers ahead.

The densely populated regional center of Terter, the urban-type settlement Shikharkh, the villages of Siakhliabad, Duyerli, Gapanli, Yenikend, Garadaghli, Garaagajli, Sarijali and Ashagi Sarijali, Askipara, Seidimli, etc. were in the zone of destruction of Armenian artillery and even large-caliber small arms.

Moreover, it should be noted that with the beginning of the dastardly provocation on September 27, the occupying contingent of the Armenian Armed Forces attacked from this direction not only at those settlements that are indicated above.

That is why it was decided to launch an immediate military operation.
