The Pentagon emphasized that the goal of the United States is not to go to war with Russia and China, because such a war would be devastating for the entire world.

“In principle, we never fought the Soviet Union,” said General John Hyten, deputy commander of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, during a seminar organized by the Brookings Institution, Middleeastin-24 reported.

"As for the great powers, our goal is not to go to war with China and Russia, because that day would be terrible for our countries,” he added.

He continued, “This will destroy the world and the global economy. It will be bad for everyone, and we have to ensure that we do not go down that path.”

He said, “We had a good deal of success with the Soviet Union, and now with Russia, and we are negotiating with it about strategic stability to make sure we understand the status quo. This is not only related to the nuclear field, but also to space.”

He pointed out that “whatever the differences between us, we have a basic common goal, which is never to clash, because war with a nuclear state is a bad thing”.
