Tural Mammadov: A brave intelligence officer

Tural Mammadov Elkhan oglu was born on September 17, 1990 in Gizilhajili village of Gazakh district. In September 1997, he entered Samad Vurgun secondary school No. 2 in Gazakh city, and completed the school in 2008. On October 3, 2008, Gazakh District Branch of the State Service for Mobilization and Conscription of the Republic of Azerbaijan called him up for active military service in the Azerbaijan Armed Forces.

On April 4, 2010, he was discharged after completing his active military service. Since December 12, 2016, he started serving in the Azerbaijan Armed Forces as an overtime active military serviceman as an intelligence officer.

In 2017, he successfully passed the examinations for the intelligence officer specialty, and continued his service in the intelligence department from 2018. He distinguished himself by being disciplined, fearless, brave and courageous.

Tural loved his profession. He used to fulfill the given tasks honestly and willingly. Therefore, the command of the military unit always highly appreciated his service, and in 2018, he was awarded the medal “100 years of the Azerbaijani army (1918–2018)”.

Intelligence officer Tural Mammadov, who served in various military units of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces and fought in the intelligence unit of the "Attack" battalion, fought bravely in the Patriotic War. From the first days of the Second Karabakh War, Tural fought in the battles in the direction of Murovdag of Kalbajar district and he was heroically martyred.

Martyr Tural Mammadov was laid to rest on December 12, 2020 in the Gizilhajili village cemetery of Gazakh district.

Tural was married. He left behind two twins - a son named Nihat and a daughter named Nilay.

By the orders of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, Tural Mammadov was posthumously awarded the medals "For the Motherland", "For Bravery", "For the Liberation of Kalbajar", and "For Courage".
